Hi,

I would like to connect to the MS SQL server 2005 on our LAN from the AS400 and update one of the tables.

I did a resarch and it seems only option is using the MS JDBC driver and make a connections from AS400.

Does anyone try it and have some more details how to do it?

All I want just update one of the field in the tables after the RPGLE program is finished.

Thank you!

It's been awhile, but I recall that I would install Client Access (Iseries Navigator as it is called now) which would install the appropriate ODBC drivers on the SQL server. From there our DBA/developers were able to setup the connection to the DB on the AS/400 (iSeries). Hope this helps.

There’s another way to do this

1. - create a user in As400 just for connection
2. - create a link server in SQL
4. - and then connect to the as400 to retrieve the data and update the table you need. (Open query)

If you need more detail please let me know.

Best regards.
