Connect to FTP, list folders and download contents to server

I have data which is uploaded to an FTP server.

I need to logon to server and present a list of folders available.

Then let a user choose a folder and download the folder and contents to the server.

Any one any pointers? I have seen many scripts which connect and upload/download, but nothing that lists the directory and recursively downloads all files.
