Hi,

I have setup apache on linux, and when i tried openning the page as in Internet browser of a windows 2000 pro PC, it says page cannot be displayed. It suppose to display a home page which tested on the linux web server itself.

Thank you.

Regards,
Daryl

Hi,

Actually it happens in other linux machines also not just windows PCs.

Is it some settings in httpd.conf that prevents other PC to connect to the web server?

Thank you.

Regards,
Daryl

Try typing localhost into your browser on the same machine as the server. If it doesn't show the test page, the server is not running?

from the linux shell type in:
service httpd status

it should return one of running or stopped

service httpd start|restart|stop take you pick on what you want it to do.

If the web page displays properly on the server itself, but not on the client computers, then something is blocking it - like a firewall.

*note to self, learn to not post until after morning cuppa.

As Smah says, it must be the firewall or you have enable Security Enhanced Linux, you'll need to specifically allow traffic to reach teh webserver. Without knowing which flavour of linux you have, makes instruction on that part a little hit and miss.
