Connect to an ISP through Proxy Server 2.0

Instead of using web mail for our school email we would like to access our mail using Outlook / Outlook Express. I have had a 'play' with no success. Can anyone suggest any settings I should change or configure in Outlook and/or Proxy Server. We can connect with the ISP outside of the proxy. Workstataions are Win98, servers W2K and internet connection is broadband.
