I am having problems connecting to Access databases from Crystal reports. I have Crystal reports XI R2 and am trying to connect to Access databases 2007. I don't see any of the databases on the list to choose from. How is the best way to connect.

Thank you

Is the database on your local PC? I tried it on my machine,, created a blank report,, whihc took me to specify the database,, open up new connection,, and then clicked Access/Excel. What part of this is not happening for you??

I did that part. I click on the ... next to database name to locate the Access database and nothing shows up on the list. The dtabase is not on a local drive

ok,, then map the location of the access database as a drive on your local machine,, when you click the blue button,,( the button to the right of the database name) navigate to the mapped drive,, and choose the database name.
Let me know what happens

I had to select 'all files' and it gave me an error 'Invalid format' when I tried to connect. Could that be because I am using 2007. If so how do I update my crystal reports to allow 2007

Well in access save it as a 2003 file,, and see if it recongizes that, of course give it a different name, add a z or something to the end. I have 2007, and also crystal XI R2,, and I do not have any problems opening the database..

Where do I find the section in 2007 to convert to 2003?

when you do a save as,, you have to choice to save it as a 2003 file,,

I am unable to save it as 2003. I got an error saying features used where unable to converted. Do you have any other suggestions? Since you have been able to open files is there something on my computer or in crystal reports that needs to be set?

I finally made my connection using ODBC. I still can't do it the other way

Thanks for you help
