Can anyone help me connect Solaris 8 to the internet via a browser.

I have a W2K server, 2 PCs, and a SPARCserver 20 on a home network with a belkin wireless router connecting to a broadband modem. I can ping all devices within my network, administer the router via netscape, and even open sun.com using the IP address. But on the sparc 20 I can't seem to configure it to use netscape to browse any internet sites.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What you're having a DNS problem. Here's how to fix it. This is assuming that you have DHCP running on the router:

1. Go to the /etc directory
2. Make sure you have the file dhcp.network_interface.
Example dhcp.hme0 or leo.0.
3. vi /etc/nsswitch.com
Find the line that reads hosts: files
Change it so that it reads hosts: files dns
4. Add the nameserver (DNS) address to the resolv.conf file
it should look like this:
# vi resolv.conf

nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

The problem is that you Sun System is not seeing the DNS servers. I hope this help!!!
