Hi,
due to new group policies we are not allowed to install odbc driver on windows machine.
but we need to connect an access-application to mysql-db.
is there a possible way or a "work around"?
thx.
Br

Group policies are administered by your IT department. Your IT department could install the ODBC driver and set up the specific connection so that there is no risk from the standard user getting away with any monkey business with other ODBC connections.

Any workarounds that one would seek would likely be much less appealing to an IT department.

Hi spamjim,
you are absolutely right, but its a little bit more complicated.[bigsmile]
We are talking about a global corporation and IT department is easily not willing to do it.
Furthermore, we dont even know who to contact exactly for this purpose...
So unfortunately the only possiblity is to find a solution for our own.
THX.

I would advise your global corporation IT department that because they are not assisting with the very basic setup of an ODBC driver, you are going to do everything you can to circumvent their controls. That will light a fire under them to set you up with the ODBC driver.

Engineering solutions to problems does not always involve hardware and code. People can be engineered as well.
