Connect linux postmaster to sbs2003

I have got an SBS2003 box running exchange, and a RedHat linux server (StartCom) running OTRS. Using POP3 to get the mail, I am unable to connect. It errors saying

Message: Can't connect to server.xxxx.local

I have created a username and email on the SBS2003 box, and it still says can't connect. Can someone point me the right way please?
