connect laptop wirelessly

Hello can anyone tell me how to connect my laptop wirelessly. At moment I have my desktop top connect wirelessly to a netgear router which is running xp. The new lap is running vista

If the netgear router is broadcasting its SSID, it should be as easy as searching for an available wireless network and connecting. If not, then you will have to manually provide the information pertinent to the wireless connection.
