I currently have 4 T1000 servers and trying to connect an HP StorageWorks Ultrium 448 Tape Drive. My goal is to link the tape drive to all 4 servers. What configuration would be best so I can use the tape drive for all 4 servers or would I have to connect to one server and try to point the backups through that server.

Have a look at Symantics Veritas... With the proper licenses, you will use one of your servers as a Media Server and back up all 4 servers to one tape drive.

I think you mean Symantec (once-was-Veritas) NetBackup?

Consider also open-source alternatives such as Bacula for network backup; I use it at home and am very impressed.

But is your question more about software? Or more about physically connecting up the tape drive? Do you have a SAN?

Annihilannic.
