howdy all.

When looking thru my access log, i encountered this entry...

CONNECT chat.vtm.be:6667

i reckon it's someone else trying to establish a connection with my server on port 6667 but i'm new to this gig and might be wrong.

it was forbidden, but others may not be so lucky so...watch out!!!

peace out

It's probably a DoS(Denial of Service) bot trying to get into your machine and use it as a ping server.
It does this by waiting until there is a connection to the internet, it finds a private IRC chat room that is used to tell thousands of other bots that are on other machines to ping one IP. It usually doesn't REALLY hurt anything, it just hogs all the bandwith up, thus knocking a server right of the web.

Go to to learn more about it.
I just read that a few days ago. ;-)

Hope I was of some help...

This is just the IRC server of a TV-channel in my country (6667 is the port used for ICQ).I don't know how it reached your server.
but this is certainly not a thing to worry about
