I am new to Nortel, so forgiver me. My company has purchased a new 1000E for the main site and smaller (s)’s and (m)’s for the remote offices. We also have some BCM’s presently installed which we are removing from service. ?? At one site we are going full IP, and no telecom equipment at all just plug to the switch and go. I., as a old telecom guy would like to reuse the BCM for this site. I would like to connect the BCM to the 1000E via IP and have full functionality. Will the BCM and 1000E connect via IP? This way I have some form of redundancy and D/R .

Are you referring to the BCM 1000e expansion cabinet, or the CS 1000E PBX?

CS 1000e main site CS 1000M and cs1000e for the smaller sites. I also have a BCM 300? that will be taken out of service.

They'll connect via IP. You'd need a handful of IP trunks on the BCM, will probably want/need MCDN on the BCM as well. You would register the BCM to the NRS, build your dialing plan on both ends, and be good to go.

You'll want the BCM to be at least at release 3.6 with cumulative patch 3.

The cs 1000 and BCM will be connected via our fiber network. When you say "You'd need a handful of IP trunks on the BCM" what exactly does that mean.

Thanks

You'll need to have IP trunk keycodes on the BCM to enable the BCM to communicate over VOIP. You'll also need H.323 access ports/virtual trunks on the CS1000, which you probably already have.

I have 4 VOIP trunk keycodes at each of my 60 3.6 BCM site's and ITG 3.0 S/W and a NTVQ01BA 24 port VOIP trunk card in my Option 11C.
