Is it possible to connect a BCM 50 and a MICS together so that telecommuters (people who work from home) can connect to the MICS at the office via VOIP? Would they have full fuctionality as if they where to use a "MCK" device or is this the only answer? If it is, is the "MCK" device the only product that this can be done with? We would locate both systems together at the same location. We are trying to do this because we have a need for a large number of workers to be at home or on the road. Also a side point, can you do remote programming into the MICS as if you were on site?

Any and all help or suggestions would be appreciated.

The only way I have connected a BCM50 to a MICS is by way of T-1 modules or cards in both machines connected with a T-1 cross cable. Then you would do a coordinated dialing plan so that folks on one system could "IC" folks on the other system seemlessly.

IF you do this, I would suggest you use the MICS for everyone and everything besides the telecommuters. Put ONLY those folks in the BCM50. There can be up to 32 IP phones off of the BCM50. Activated via keycodes.

As far as remote programming the MICS. You would need to install a FastRad2 off a digital station port, then use the latest NRU11 (Norstar Remote Utilities) to program it. Using the browser tool you are able to 'see' all of the programming easily. Not quite as sweet as the GUIs available on the BCMs but usable.

mroberts,

Thanks for the information we will give it a try. We will be using a FastRad2 for programming for the MICS. Do you think that we can use the voice mail that can come with the BCM 50 for both systems or should we use an external CallPilot for this?

If you are going to to do centralized vmail, you should put the vmail on the side that has the most people on it. Therefore I would use an external CallPilot 150. It has 8 channels of voicemail.

Granted the BCm50 has 10 channels but then you would be doing a reverse Centralized Vmail and that's just buying trouble for yourself.

Unless there is a workaround, the BCM50 does not support being the centralized VM.

Jason is correct. Only BCM's that can be hosts for centralized VM are 200/400/1000's.

I beleiev you can use the Norstar VOIP Gateway and IP trunking to connect the two.
