connect a SunOS5.5.1 machine to a printer

I have a SunOS 5.5.1 machine which has to be connected to a printer.
The printers.conf file has the following entry

hp3: :bsdaddr=loclnxprt,hp3,Solaris:

But, still the machine cannot see the printer. I can ping on to the printer from the machine, but the lp command doesnot work.

Is there any other setting that needs to be done other than the printers.conf file??
