It looks like you're using a printer interface file based on, perhaps, "standard"? What's happening is that somewhere in the interface file is a line (or a couple of lines) running stty to set up a serial line... As your using a print server, these are irrelevant, and can be commented out.

HTH.

If you set up the printer as a "remote" printer, there is no interface file. SCO expects the server that it's connecting to do have the interface file. I have had a lot of trouble with the Jetdirect's and finally sent them back and bought the Kingston for 1/2 the price. Trendnet makes one also that looks like it's made by the same company (in China?). The problem with the HP is that it assumes you are using an HP laser and always sends the escape sequences to reset the printer (\ESC E). This is a side note - and I'm really just venting.
If you are getting mail, it's probably because you used the jet-direct software that does have a model. You can edit the model and make it do anything you want. The mail says "tcgetattr failed" implying that the model made a call to terminfo to look up the printer type, and the attribute it wants is not defined. Try changing your terminfo type to "unknown" and see if you still get the message. Your application may be asking for a terminfo definition that does not exist in terminfo. If you really need to use the model, you are going to have to see what attributes it's asking for and define them in the terminfo data base for that printer.
Good luck.
