I have a 3com network with a switch 4007 as the core. I'm trying to connect a cisco 3508 that to the 3com 4007 (on a 4 port layer 2 gbic blade) with lx gbics. I reset the 3508 to factory defaults and assigned ip and gateway to it. The one port on the 4007 has a vlan (2 no tagging) and an interface (2) assigned to it. The port is also set at auto negotiation and flow control to rxon. I get green link lights on both the cisco and 3com ports but cannot ping the address of the 3508. Also the 4007 port detail shows numorous rxPackets dropped. I'm missing a simple setting somewhere can anyone help?? I've also posted this in 3com:switches forum

Could be an autonegotiation issue. I would manually assign the duplex(full) and port speed(1000) on both the 3508 and the 4007.

It was a Vlan mismatch on the Cisco side. After resetting the 3508 to factory defaults and giving it an ip, mask, and gateway everthing worked. It even all connected with everthing set to auto. I thought for sure that duplex and flowcontrol would need to be hard set.
