We have the following setup, 1 Forest with an empty root. under the root we have 2 domains let call the Adomain and Bdomain. Bdomain setup a Lync enterprise server and ran the setup against Bdomain and not root, they

setup a Single central site. We in Adomain later decied to deploy Lync and setup a Lync Standadr server Under the Central site Bdomain setup, our deployment is working great. We would like to connect our two Lync

enviorments with one another internally and have NO external access available as of yet. We in Adomain were told by a consultant that we could deply and Edge server internally and tell the topology to use it (as both our

Lync eviroments share the Same Topoloy) and this would enable us to use IM and Precense with Bdomain, we do have a trust relationship with Bdomain. I was just wondering if this was possible and if so how to go about

doing it, as we would not need any external DNS or IPS plugged into the edge server setup. We Have Different Pools and different sip domains. In the Lync Server Control Panel I can see both pools as well as sip enabled

users in both domains, but we cannot IM or see precense of the other domain. users in Technet forums say edge server is not necessary and according to our set up it should just work. We have no director or mediation

roles seto nor do we have any sort of federated role or connection.Sorry for Rambling any thoughts or assistance would be Greatly Appreciated.
