Hi, why does Excel 2010 screw up my old 2007 conditional formats?

I have a simple rule based on the value of the cell. Using the Windings 3 format, my output either displays as an upward or downward arrow. In reality the cell value is either 'R' or an 'S'
The Conditional Format that was created a number of years ago in the previous version of office and migrated into 2010.
So If the cell value is an 'R' the Conditional Format is a green cell background colour, while an 'S' means a red backgound.

What I'm finding is even if the cell value changes, the background colour does not.

Any ideas?

hi,

and you're certain that nothing has changed regarding the CF RANGE or the CF FORMULA?

Interesting that on my PC, these 2 characters, R & S, in WingDing3 are not any kind of arrows.

Now r & s are upward and downward pointing triangles???

okay, how about using the CHAR("r") & CHAR("s") values?

I'm sorry, I meant the CODE() function.

Apologies Skip, you're correct they are triangles, to give the impression of upward or downward trends.
The 2010 version of CF is as no doubt you know way more than 2003-2007.
To view my CFs, I use the Manage Rules option, I think this is where the problem lies as the options no longer looks like the IF, THEN ELSE type of scenario in 2003. In 2010 there is a 'Stop if True' checkbox, but that doesn't make a difference to the cell colour.
What's also interesting is that if I save and close the workbook, the colours are correct on re-opening. Not that this helps really as my trends are updated on the fly and saving and closing will add too much of an overhead

2010 CF is more like 2007.

BTW, CF 2003 did not have IF THEN ELSE. It has a maximum of THREE CF criteria options and it has TWO criteria setting methods for each criteria and ONE format window for each criteria.

Is Auto Calculate on?

You might also play with the Stop if TRUE option if necessary.
