I have 2 WIN98SE PCs netqorked through a hub. Sharing one Cable Modem. Up til yesterday both were running fine - Internet connection on both etc...

For convenience I wanted to swap the ICS Server and Client over - now I'v done it I have internet access onthe server but nothig on the client. I've tried assigning static IPs as per but no joy, so I went for dynamics instead - just to get things working. Problem is the DHCP server in ICS is assigning addresses like 169.254.149.29 with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 !! In WinIpCfg the DHCP server IP is showing as 255.255.255.255

When I try to renew the Lease I get a message saying 'Error DHCP Server Unavailable: Renewing Adapter "" '
(No I cant PING from machine to machine either - also neither can be seen in their counterparts Network Neighborhoods.)

Does anyone have a clue as to whats going on??
How can I reset all IPs and start again? - Deleting TCP/IP from Network Properties and rebooting doesnt seem to work.

ICS can only be installed on one system. When you switched them around, did you uninstall it from your original and reinstall on your new server? The test continues...

Yep - by deleting from Network Properties - is that sufficient?

Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs/Windows Setup/Internet Tools.

Uncheck on the old server, check on the new server.
Re-start, then let your IE find the new proxies by clicking on your home page. Go to File/Work Offline and make sure that is unchecked in your IE.
The test continues...

Forgot to add "After you get to the Internet Tools, uncheck/check the Internet Connection Service for the proper machine."

Sorry about that... The test continues...
