Confusion on Server Connection info

I installed Apache, PHP, and MySQL on my WIndows 2000 machine and want to test a dreamweaver site locally. I am trying to set up a php connection to my SQL Server and cannot seem to map to the data.

In MySQL, there is a data folder which resides here:
C:\mysql\data\MYDATABASE

In the connection window of Dreamweaver, it wants me to put my local URL which it defaults to http:\\localhost

I tried changing this to the IP address of my apache server.

I am so confused about how to get this up and running.

What am I missing?

You don't map anything to the datastore of a database server. You use the database server to manipulate the data.
