Howdy,

I setup Sendmail once before, about 11 months ago. Because of a hacking problem, I had to setup the server again (A total clean install). I installed RedHat 7.2 with Sendmail RPM package 8.11.6-3. I can send email but can not receive it.

The error message I get is that the connection was refused by the mail server, so it keeps on trying.

Also, I noticed that there are no error messages in the log: /var/log/maillog which indicates that the message clearly is not getting through.

Also of concern is that in the log file /var/log/message I get the following: sshd[2279]:Server listing on 0.0.0.0 port 22. It also says on some lines that it can not bind any address. I am getting a similar error with xinetd from 0.0.0.0. I can telnet and ftp to the server, Apache is fine, but sendmail is a mess.

What have I done wrong?

Thanks for your help inadvance.

I did have a similar problem when I setup sendmail. The problem was that port 25 was blocked by ipchains. When I changed that, everything worked like a charm. I suggest you should take a look and see if ipchains is supposed to let traffic through on port 25. //Daniel
