Hi folks,
An opportunity has opened up in my company for a DBA position. Since I have done development work in Sybase ( Stored procs, triggers etc) and have also managed our development Sybase server environment for a while, my manager is encouraging me to take this up.. training will be provided and I will be working under a couple of Snr DBAs who will guide me until I come up to speed.
I am rather concerned if this is good career path cognizant of Sybase's low ratings in the market. I read an article that pointed out that sybase may be a spent force and will not be around in a couple of years. I wish this opportunity was in Oracle or DB2. What do you think about the career prospects of a Sybase DBA in a couple of years.
