In Access 2000, I want to develop a simple Point Of Sale database. The database will reside on 1 PC, but be accessed form 2 networked PC. The database will have a single form that both users will use. The form will be used to create invoices.
What is the best method to prevent both users opening, and editing, the same record? I do not want write conflict messages to appear!

My preferred method is to create my own custom record locking routine. Add an extra field to the table called LockedBy and add the user's loging ID to the field when they open the record.

When another user opens the record display a message saying user x already has the record open, then iterate through all controls on the form and lock them.
