Help! Our users run an application that uses the Oracle 8i client and it has been running smoothly for YEARS. A few months ago, we had to install a new client app that runs off of Access forms, and ever since then we have been having problems with the Oracle app that seem to be getting worse every day. We are now getting repeated ORA-03114 errors when users are in the Oracle app which indicates that they have lost the connection to the DB.

I know nothing about Oracle (the DB is housed by an offsite company, we connect over a T1) - is there any way or any tools that we could use to detect an application or driver/DLL conflict between this new app and the Oracle client? There is nothing being recorded in the event logs on the clients or anywhere else.

thanks, Andi

FYI I checked my SQLNET.ORA file on the application server and it has the following entries:

(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=BEQ)(PROGRAM=oracle)(ARGV0=oracleORCL)(ARGS='(DESCRIPTION=(LOCAL=YES)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=beq)))'))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=ORCL)(CID=(PROGRAM=<path to program executable.exe>)(HOST=IN1111)(USER=username))))
