Confirming that the print button was clicked

Is there any way to return a status from a print dialog box to confirm that the operator hit "print" vs. "cancel"? We need to confirm that the print button was clicked and a form was printed (granted...the printer could be out of ink...paper...etc.) but we want to confirm that the operator at least hit print vs. cancel vs. just hitting the "big red X".

I don't think that's possible since the print dialog is an embedded function of the browser.
