We are trying to configure securemote on a Windows 98
machine and we have installed it. We have two firewalls in high-availability on the network, each one with one public IP address. There is one third IP address which answers for the firewall. Moreover, the console management is on the internal network.

We have configured the VPN on the firewall, but on the client side, when we try to create a site with the firewall address, it doesn't work.

Could anyone tell me the correct steps to do the configuration?

Thanks a lot.

You may need a hosts or LMhosts file see link below

You may not be able to create the site if your client machine is inside your network due to the Firewall rules.
Connect the client to the insternet using dial up RAS or Broadband. Then try and create the site. If it doesn't create the site, check the firewall logs filtering the logs on source or destination equals the client IP address. You may have a dodgy rule. CHeck the the clients Internet connection ISP does not use NAT. It may use NAT if it is using a broadband router connected to the clients NIC. If it is dialup or Broadband using a USB modem it should be OK.
CHeck the clients ISP or your Firewalls external router does not block any ports. Your Firewall can protect the network you should not need a router blocking ports to protect it.

We have a VPN between 2 networks which work fine. Do you know if we need another license for installing Securemote for accessing from movile clients?

Best regards

Maria

Maria,
We are trying exactly the same thing. We got the Topo to download by making sure the Respond to unauthenticated requests is not checked in the the Checkpoint properties box. Then the topo worked just fine. If you have this working already I would appreciate a little help also. We can get the Topo but when we try accessing anything internal it just times out. The log shows that the topo is sent out using ssl of some sort and the keys are installed but nothing is encrypted. Thanks

We are setting up a VPN tunnel with SecuRemote on
Windows98, authenticating at the firewall with
SecurID. However, on Windows98 machines prior to
authentication with SecurID an Windows Networking error
"unable to find domain xxxxx" pops up. This is
understandable because until you authenticate you
are not actually communicating with the domain. How
can I prevent this from happening? It does not on
Windows 2000.
