Using Exchange 5.5 with Outlook 2000 client. I can receive email and send mail to users in the GAL but cannot send email to others on the Internet. Relaying is enabled for authenticated users. I can't see anything being blocked on the Raptor firewall. I get relaying denied error messages. Clients are using dialup or broadband to the Internet. Any tips?
TIA

I would also

It sounds like the Internet Mail Service is improperly configured.

I would suggest checking your address space configuration or your connected site configuration.

Check the Outlook configuration for outgoing email server. The box marked outgoing server requires authentication should be checked and appropriate login info entered. I do not use Outlook 2000 so I cannot give you the exact wording.

Check whether you have done the following configuration to the IMC.
In the Internet Mail service, locate the Routing tab, check the option "Reroute incoming SMTP mail", next you see a box titled Routing click on add then enter your domain name for eg.
user1@dce.com then enter dce.com as domain & choose the option "Sould be accepted as inbound mail", click ok & restart the Internet Mail service. This should start relaying your mails to the internet.

All good suggestions but I've covered everything here. I did notice that we had both Hosts and Clients that Authenticate and Hosts and Clients at these IP addresses checked under Routing restrictions. Since I don't have any separate IP addresses to add I turned that off and will test it again today.
