Configuring POP3 within SMS 2003 Exchange Server

We have a SMS 2003 server here running as an Exchange server. We use this for email, calendar and contacts. No one in the office uses or even has a pop3 account.

However! We just installed a ticket system onto our network (some of you may know it, or not; it's called nService), in order to have it receive ticket creation requests via email it needs to be configured to work in conjunction with a pop3 account.

My question is simple but the resolution may be tricky (or not); what is the best way to configure my server to have pop3 functionality so that i can have the nService retrieve all emails sent to support@domain.com. Emails sent to this address will not need to be delivered to a client or viewed anywhere else. They just need to be stored until the nService system connects and retrieves them.

I hope i adequately explained my scenario, any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

This wont effect the way my exchange mail accounts work correct? I just need to enable pop3 for this one particular address.

Another question is once i enable the services, how do i find out what the pop address (mail.domain.com) is?

Ok

I have followed the guide that was linked in the post above, and i was able to access the pop3 service via telnet, however when i tried to logon as a user i received an error message that stated:

"-ERR Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."

Again, this is an SBS 2003 Exchange server environment, everyone has email addresses assigned to them when their account is created via server management > add a user.

I know for fact i am entering the correct credentials, any idea why this wont allow me to log into pop3?

Figured it out, i was trying to authenticate using the email address rather than the domain account, once i changed that i connected perfectly.

Now what if i wanted to use SMTP for the nService to send mail out? Currently i have the nService configured to use the smtp host that our ISP provided, however this seems to be unstable as it sometimes sends mail out and sometimes doesnt.

If i wanted to set up smtp for this single account, what are the steps i would go through?
