Three questions with getting the NIS client to work on sun 5.8:

1.) the domainname is not being read upon reboot even when /etc/domainname contains the correct value. the 'domainname' command returns nothing upon reboot. I've been having to reset it manually with 'domainname <domain>'

2.) the ypbind service is not being restarted automatically when I reboot either. I still have to do '/usr/lib/netsvcs/yp/ypstart' manually after reboot.

3.) After starting the service 'ypwhich' returns:
"Domain <domain> not bound on <localhost>.

Ideas?

Yes as I stated so (if not clearly) in question #1 of my original post. I also cannot type apparently as I meant "NIS" and not "NIX" in the subject ;)

No, in your original post you mentioned /etc/domainname. I was asking about /etc/defaultdomain... perhaps another typo... or perhaps you have the domain in the wrong filename?

Ah, they look so much alike. I'll check that. Thanks.
