Hi folks,

Is it possible to setup a SLES linux nis client on a remote subnet from the NIS server or must I setup another NIS slave on each subnet ?

Thanks and warmest regards.

Unless there's something odd in SLES, then yes, you can. Just put the NIS server's address in /etc/yp.conf

Hi lgarner,

On the SLES nis client, ypbind is showing :- "Status: YPBIND_FAIL_VAL"

When I do ypwhich it returns "can't yp_bind: Reason: Domain not bound"

The nis server's address is already in /etc/yp.conf. Have I missed out any other setting ?
