just a note for future reference, I have had a configuration where a single VM required 33 LUNs (vmdk) to be presented, this is well within the limitations of the VM however we've discovered that it is a limitation of the ESX MUI. if you follow the Admin guide you should be able to add more than 8 scsi devices via the options tab in the VM, however this doesn't always work and when it does it appears to not allow more than 16 targets, to work around this either buy Virtual Centre or create your vmfs, then use the CLI to create the vmdk within the vmfs and finally manually edit the vmx file for the VM. Once done I found it best to give it a minute then refresh the MUI and then go back into the VM.

Thanks for the tip! I saw it too, MUI doesn't display all LUNs that you can use in a VM... CLI rules in VMWare!

Cheers.
