Hi,
I am using linux red hat 7.1 as proxy server through which i route our mail to our mail server i.e My Guys Use Outlook to send email in which i have configured the incoming server as well as our outgoing server as linux server. Our Mail Server guys has asked me to enable smtp authentication do i have to change anything in linux to enable smtp authentication. I have already configured outlook on all machines for smtp authentication.

Your GUYS are referring to enabling SMTP Auth on the mail server. If the proxy is setup in a non-invasive manner, then it shouldn't require any particular settings or knowledge of your mail server to allow this. It's just some data moving through the proxy. I presume that you are allowing TCP port 25, etc. for email traffic.

If you are running your own mail server on linux, then you would have to configure the mail server for smtp auth. How this is done depends on which one you are running, sendmail, postfix or qmail.
