Hi,
I am completely new to BizTalk Server and want to investigate the use of Health & Activity Tracking. Can anyone tell me how to do the following things or point mwe in the right direction with links:

- Protokolling all messages that have run with filtering by status, date, ID etc
- Information on contents of the messages
- Configuration of Automatic or manual escalation, e.g. when 10 messages don't get through, send mail to administrator
- Report status information (the end system reports back to BizTalk that the message arrived successfully)

Any help appreciated
Thanks

Configuration of Automatic or manual escalation, e.g. when 10 messages don't get through, send mail to administrator

I am sorry to tell you that this is not possible with HAT! You will need to either write custom code to watch for Suspended Messages, or you will need to buy MOM (Microsoft Operations Manager). There is a MOM Rule Package for BizTalk.

- Report status information (the end system reports back to BizTalk that the message arrived successfully)
How is HAT supposed to know? You can look for the Message in Hat. If you want to start a process depending on the Answer of the endSystem you should look into correlation mechanism of Orchestrations.

Information on contents of the messages
You can Track either the whole Message and its Context or just some chosen Properties.
This link should get you started:

Protokolling all messages that have run with filtering by status, date, ID etc
Look at the link above and just play araound with the Hat Queries.

Hi,
Thanks for the answer, was very helpful.
Can you give me a link on 'correlation mechanism of Orchestrations'?
Thanks a lot

The BizTalk 2004 Tutorials get you through the basiscs of BizTalk. Including Correlation:

A good book you want to have as a BizTalk developer is
BizTalk Server 2004 unleashed by Scott Woodgate!

And you might want to download the BizTalk Bloggers Guide. Its a help file that contains the most valuable Blog Entrys for BizTalk

Hope that Helps,

Stephan

Hi,
Thanks for the links! One more thing: can anybody give me a simple screenshot of the Query Builder, where I can see the message metrics and results view? any old query will do. (Background: I haven't installed BizTalk 2004, am just doing a feasibility study on it, if it's useful for us!)
Thanks
Chidd
