I am an experienced Windows administrator but a complete newbie to the world of Linux and UNIX. In fact, I have just installed Fedora 3 for the first time ever.

Firstly, how do I configure the network settings in Fedora 3 to point to a WINS server? I cannot seem to find an option anywhere. We do not currently use DNS in our environment so I cannot resolve any names.

Secondly, does anyone know of any great online beginners guides to Fedora or Linux? I am trying to get my head around the file system! There is no C: drive (!) so i'm lost!

Regards,

Edit the /etc/smb.conf. Samba uses the wins server. You might have to edit your system to use wins server elsewhere. Look at /etc/nssswitch.conf. On the line for hosts, make sure wins is there if you want wins to be used throughout the server. Do a man on nssswitch.conf.
