hello

I recently installed Exchange 2000SP3, successfully. My configuration is such that I pick up messages from a POP3 account on an ISP server. I use EFS (pop3 pickup s/w 5.5) to pick up and distribute to exchange mailboxes. This configuration worked very well in version 5.5 of exchange.

In my tests, external inbound messages come through successfully. Internal mail also goes through. However, outbond messages to the internet do no reach destination or leave the server at all.

I have a domain xyz.com with an allocated IP from the ISP. I use DNS to route the messages. I have no DNS errros.

What have I done wrong? I need step by step help on how to accomplish this.

Maricus, check the reason WHY it is not leaving the server.
Also check the EventLogs for some details.
Post back any errormessages found.

I am having a similar (I think) issue. If we are sending to both internal and external addresses in the same email, the internal one reaches the recipient but the external one sends back the message below:

The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact your system administrator.

Any ideas?

Need more information, espcially if you are still having this problem. Crank up the logging to maximum for your e-mail transactions and look for oddities.. it might not show up as an error - i.e. when you see the entry were it would normally dispatch the e-mail, but doesn't - there may be a clue there.
