Configuring DNS on two domain controllers

We have two domain controllers on site both configured as DNS servers. Should each server be pointing to itself as the preferred DNS server? We have one server pointing to itself and the other DC pointing to it as the DNS.
 
It really doesn't matter if DCDNS1 points to itself as preferred and DCDNS2 as alternate. It is when using WINS you want to make sure the WINS server points to itself.
The benfit of DCDNS1 pointing to DCDNS2 as preferred DNS is that the re-boot time is faster, as it doesnt have to wait for DNS to start locally.
 
That is true for NT4...for Win2000/2003 AD domains..WINS is not required and is usually just an error cause.

So what type of domain is this?
