I hv a SunFire V245 and I would like to configure the ALOM so that I can remotely power on the SunFire V245 after a power outage. Currently, I hv to connect a cable to the serial management port to access the ALOM to power on the SFV245 everytime there is a power outage.

Any idea how I can configure ALOM? Can I assign an IP to ALOM and connect a network cable to the Network management port to accomplish that?

Thanks...

Thanks AnotherAlan.
I would like to connect to the ALOM via Network Management Port. The doc said to connect an ethernet cable to the port and do a telnet or ssh. My question is, how do I know what is the IP address to telnet/ssh to? Can I set the IP manually?

The doc said that if the DHPC is enabled, we can use clientid. What is clientid? How can I find out what is its clientid?

The doc is very confusing to me. Any other simpler doc to follow so that I can telnet/ssh to the ALOM?

Thank you.

I would avoid using DHCP to configure an ALOM, but you can configure this manaully as a static IP.

Run setupsc when connected to the serial mgmt port and follow the prompts.

It may help you to look at the scadm man page, it has some good advice and a list of commands to do this via the OS.

Thanks, AnotherAlan.
I use setsc netsc_ipaddr to set the ip address and now I can ssh to the SC. Thanks alot for your advice.
