Configuring Aloha to use direct cash drawer problem

Hi there. I have searched the forum and was unable to find an answer to my problem directly...

I have a P1220 with 4 serial ports and 2 "cash drawer" ports. The ports are 4P4C (rj22/rj9). The P15xxx software in control panel lets me test the cash drawer under OPOS, and sends a signal under RSDirectCD1 and RSDirectCD2.

I cannot figure out how to configure Aloha to use this direct port. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Aloha Manager - Maintenance - Hardware - Cash Drawers

Under Drawer type select OPOS

On the right side of the screen - select the opos driver RSDirectDC1

The Drawer cable must be a OPOS - not printer driven.

Thank you for the quick reply...

This was my assumption, however ports are greyed out. I have a text field labeled OPOS and a terminal selection. Under OPOS if I type in what you have supplied it does not send signal (just using a volt meter for testing)

Version 5.2.5.118

Last question... I was just going to make a cable for the time being. Do you know if the pins are straight through or reversed?

I need to find the pinout for a tm-t88 also which shouldn't be so difficult.

Thanks again

not at office and don't have one in hand right now, will get pin outs and get them to you when I can.

Just for quick reference,
DB25----------RJ45 B----------RJ12

3 Rxd---------3 green white---3
2 Txd---------2 orange----------4
7 Ground----5 blue white-----5
20 DTR------8 brown-----------6

Depending on what you are doing. My little terminal has 4 RJ12 serial ports.

I have had difficulty finding 4P4C ends to make an OPOS cable.

Thanks so much for your help coorsman. I lurk a lot, and you are incredibly helpful.

I am now very confused as to why I cannot seem to use 2 cash drawers at one terminal through 2 tm88s... If I delete printer 1, open cash drawer works on printer 2, but otherwise printer 1 is the only one which will open. The idea was to assign different people to each drawer... which works... but the second drawer will not open. Throws no errors.

I guess that is what the "use multiple drawers" check is for under job codes.

If you get around to the OPOS pinout I would greatly appreciate it. I have exhausted the google box and have not found one.

Most receipt printers provide a single RJ11 outlet to plug a cash drawer into the printer, and they require an external RJ11 splitter to create the dual cash drawer outlets.

Each cash drawer connected to the printer with the RJ11 splitter must be designated as drawer number one or drawer number two in the ALOHA® application software Back-of-House (BOH). Designate the drawer as '1' or '2' in the 'Drawer Number' text box in the BOH.

Most cash drawers come pre-wired as drawer number one. You must change the internal wiring of the second cash drawer to designate it as the second drawer. For example, some cash drawers use the red wire and the black wire for the signal to open the cash drawer. For cash drawer number one, the red wire connects to a green wire and the black wire connects to another black wire. Cash drawer number two may require the red wire connected to a green wire, and the black wire connected to a yellow wire.

The wire colors that designate the cash drawer number vary from drawer to drawer. Contact the cash drawer manufacturer for specific wire assignments.

Once the wiring is correct, plug each cash drawer into one of the ports on the RJ11 splitter.

Found this - hope it helps.
