Ladies and Gentlemen

I have a new Compaq ML360 server, fully loaded, running Netware 5.1. I am trying to configure serial port A (there are two ports A & B) to talk to my TrippLite UPS. Can anyone give me the procedure? When I run AIOCOMX.NLM I get, Interrupt number 3 is already in use. Supported values are 2,5,6,...F,F. I try all of these values and nothing works.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Have you verified that the Serial port is enabled on the server. COM1 (A) should be at I/O 3F8, IRQ 4 and COM2 (B) should be 2F8, IRQ3. Those would be the defaults anyway, and should apply unless something else has claimed those port numbers.

Typically you specify command line parameters when you load AIOCOMX.. Something like this:

LOAD AIOCOMX PORT=3F8 INT=4 NOFIFO
--or--
LOAD AIOCOMX PORT=2F8 INT=3 NOFIFO

If you know what port and interrupt you want to use, and specify it in the load line, then it doesn't have to try to guess what you want to do. It will either work or it won't, but if not you should get some feedback as to why not.
