Can someone give me information on how to configure AIX 5.3 server with a non IBM media changer? The maintenance level=2

Specific details would be greatly appreciated.

We connected a non IBM media changer to the server via HBA. AIX recognizes the drives, but there's no sign of the media changer.

ATAPE is installed, but I don't think you can use Atape to control the media changer.

Thanks in advance.

no acsls.

Can native o/s see medium changer without atape or acsls or any other 3rd party software?

Perhaps tapeutil (I believe it is part of Atape driver) command knows how to operate the changer?

HTH,

I have always installed ACLS to use an automaed changer

tapeutil needs a device path that points to the medium changer, doesn't it? eg) tapeutil /dev/rmt/smc0?

The library and drives are connected via HBA's

When I run lsdev -Cc tapes, it shows tape drives, but no medium changer.

Does AIX need a driver loaded? I thought that would be atape. If using ACSLS, does ACSLS provide its own drivers?
