how can i configure the parallel ports to be accessable under /dev/lp*? there donst seem to be any loopback files at the moment and i dont really have a clue how to get them.

i am using mandrake 8.2 but i would prefer a more generic way of seting it up rather than a red hat or mandrake type way.

You should already have a /dev/lp0 file???

I guess it may be an incorrect BIOS setting as it should be picked up. There should always be a /dev/lp0. You should go into your BIOS settings and set your printer port to EPP with EPP 1.7. Hopefully it should work.
