Hello

I'm new at Linux!!
I have a Linux RedHat 7.3 with only one nic card that i need to enable so that i can get to the internet. Can anyone plase help me with the commands to configure
1. broadcast ip
2. ip address
3. netmask
4. gateway

Any help will be great!!!Thanks in advance
Newtoo

There may be commands to do it, but I've found that the easiest way is to edit the configuration files.

The broadcast IP, IP address, and netmask will be in the file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

The gateway is set in the file /etc/sysconfig/network

You can either use the Network setup if you are using GUI or you can use ifconfig from the command line. Type "man ifconfig" to get more help on ifconfig. The GUI version is self explanatory.

Do you type esc:q! to save and exit?

thanks

I assume you're using vi.

The keyboard string to save and quit should be esc:wq ______________________________________________________________________

one last question does it matter what order to install mysql, php, and apache?

Thanks
Newtoo

I recommend installing MySQL first, then Apache, then PHP.

I also recommend installing PHP as an Apache module. ______________________________________________________________________
