Configure tape device from boot: prompt

Our customer has a set of ROOT and BOOT floppies that were created prior to the tape drive being configured. We are in the process of trying to recover their system from tapes after a disk crash. Is it possible to configure the tape drive from the boot prompt? I have tried:

boot: defbootstr Stp=blad(0,2,0)

this didn't work.

They are running SCO 5.0.5
