Hello all,

Does anyone have screen shots of the "Configure Server" through the web interface? I am going to be changing some IP stuff this weekend and just want to give it a look as I have not done it before.

Just trying to be proactive and make this weekend a smooth one.
 
You can do individual services:

Configure Server

Specify how you want to use this wizard
Configure all services using the wizard
Configure individual services

Steps
Review Notices
Set Identities

Set DNS/DHCP
Set Static Routes

Click CONTINUE to proceed.

Then it brings you to this screen.

Sweet. So it shoudl'nt be to involved to change the Subnet and default Gateway?
 
Nope!

On the S87xx set, do the backup server first, then the primary.

I've also found it's a lot easier to have everything mapped out in Visio before hand...there are so many damned interfaces on the S87xx that it can get tricky remembering what goes where.

Also don't forget to adjust in CM (Node Names, LSP Page, etc)....and is the G700/G350 factored into your plans? I'm 99% sure it needs to be on the same subnet as the S8300...

Is the new address of the 8300 in the same subnet as the old one? If not, you have a lot more changes than configure server. If you are staying in the same subnet, don't forget to change the MGC list to the new 8300 address. If you need instructions, just post back and I'll tell you how to do it...

 
We ARE changing the Subnet. What other changes will I have to do?
 
ok then..... you can pick one of two ways.... If you do not know the command link in the gateway, I would use the wizard.

Using the Wizard, all you need to do is hit next until you see an address you need to change. At the end on the wizard, it will give you some commands to run in the gateway to insure all is correct.

How to log into the p330
open a cmd window
telnet to the ip address of the 8300
use your login and password
now you're in the 8300
telnet to 127.1.1.1 (this is you internal loop)
the login is root and the password is root
now you are in the p330 super prompt
to make any changes in the p330, you must type config and enter it
to enter the g700, you need to type session mgp and press enter.
now you will be at the super prompt in the g700

If you don't want to use the command line, let me know and I'll post some instructions....

 
Sorry.. I forgot yo tell you..... You want to use the Installation wizard from the main menu.... Under installation.

substitute with your addresses.... the 1 is the vlan

set ip route 0.0.0.0 192.168.5.1

session mgp

set interface mgp 1 192.168.5.26 255.255.255.0

reset mgp

set interface voip v0 192.168.5.27

set ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.5.1

set mgc list 192.168.3.24

make sure all these are correct

 
SWEET! Thanks. Should the 8700's be easier since there are no g700's to worry about? Or did I just open a new can of worms?
 
the 8700 is easy.... it's just the configure server information... Is this an LSP? If so, you need to know more information..
 
We have two sites connected by a t-1. You can 4 digit dial ext. between sites. We are moving them to a larger circuit.

If that means LSP...then Yes.

if it's not a 13, do a display lsp...

 
disp LSP shows 1 Farmington 10 .1 .85 .230 in-service/idle 1:00 5/13/2007

list media-gateway shows all 5 of my media gateways.

List sur is not a valid input.
 
do you plan on changing the addresses in Farmington?
is this the 8300/g700 you are changing the IP addresses in?

Sorr for all the questions... I don't want to miss a step...
 
ok... you have a lot of work in front of you....

begin with the 8300 lsp that has the 5 g700 stack

run the installation wizard to change the addresses

you will come to a point on the installation wizard the lists the media gateways and has a picture of a wrench.... click on each one of these to configure the gateway addresses. You want to do this from the location of the 8300 to prevent loosing your connection to the 8300. You can do it remotely if you wait to change the 8300 address until after the rest of the gateways are configured. Remember, you have to keep the path over the network. you can configure all the gateways from this wizard and it's much easier than doing them individually if you never have.

be sure to change the node-name ip for the LSP

If you have never done this... Use the Wizard... Then go back and check each gateway with the show commands I gave you....

When you are in the p330 stack controller, you can session to each gateway. use this command
session 2
this it for gateway 2
session 3
for gateway 3 and so on ..

For an lsp, your MGC list should be entered lile this.

clan, clan, 8300 (Ip addresses)

set mgc list x.x.x.x, x.x.x.x, x.x.x.x

you should make sure your recovery settings are correct...

2 on the transition points will let you search 2 clans for 4 min and the allow the third entry (8300 ADDRESS) to take over....

When do you plan on doing this???
 
We are doing it Sunday. How long would you say this would take...assuming eveything goes ok...
 
I would give yourself about 2-4 hours because you will most likely be doing some trouble shooting.... Believe it or not, changing IP addresses causes more problems than a upgrade...
