Hi List,
just bought myself a 32 bit rs6000, setup aix 5.L and now like to configure sendmail (home user with dsl lan connection to the internet) to use my freemail account (username:password) to send and receive mail like I can do it with ?
How do I configure it?
Cheers, Dietmar

strange - really thought, that someone has experience with that item - maybe someone of this list can suggest an easy to configure mail products to send/receive mails from an aix box - Dietmar

Why do you want to setup a mail server that uses another mail server?

I agree with RhythmAce... for a single user, this sounds rather silly. That said, I'm assuming you're currently accessing your free mail account via POP3 or IMAP--if this is the case, fetchmail will do what you want.

Hi, many thanks for your replies. The reason for sending mails is that I set up an application (systems management software) what I tuned to start a script to send an email, if i.e. it detects a full filesystem. Fetching mails is not that important to me, but I'd just like to set it up as well to get some expirience.

Yes, got one from through my ISP, but mail is only accessible using username:password and defining the pop2/smtp, so same as the freemail accounts.

PS I won't be online till sunday evening, visiting friends in Berlin
