Greetings Gurus!
Some simple advice is needed to point me in the right direction. We have a need to start using sendmail to email documents from the print spooler and for another "outgoing" email process. We do not want to set it up so it accepts any e-mail. We need to integrate this with our Exchange server and continue to use our Exchange server as our main e-mail server. Is there a way to set up sendmail so it simply relays the email over to the Exchange server to be sent out from that point? We are concerned about spam, etc. Again, as you can tell from this message, i am a noob when it comes to sendmail, and simply need some advice as to any good websites, manuals, etc. that would let me know how to proceed, whether it is possible, etc. TIA! ;)

In your sendmail.cf file just insert this

DSyour_exchange_server.foo.com

sendmail will use your exchange server as its smart host.

give it a go and let see if it will work.

I added FEATURE(`mailertable') to my sendmail.mc and created a file /etc/mail/mailertable reading

. smtp:eek:ur_mail_server.our_domain.our.net

the dot here stands for the top-level domain (com, org, edu, etc. are it's children), compiled mailertable.db, so all our mail goes to the specified host.
