So far I have looked at online help files, Sendmail chat chanell irc and have done everything I think is correct to configure sendmail. Sendmail is to be setup to forward my asterisk voice mail email attachments to my email of choice.

I have edited sendmail.mc and replaced
dnl define(`SMART_HOST', `sendmailserver')dnl
with
dnl define(`SMART_HOST', `shawmail.vc.shawcable.net')dnl

I then m4 the file into a new sendmail.cf and get this sendmail log when sending out.

Jun 8 19:18:00 denver sendmail[3785]: n592Htlj003785: from=<>, size=2119, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<200906090218.n592HtG0003784@denver>, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]
Jun 8 19:18:00 denver sendmail[3784]: n592HtG0003784: to=root, delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=31232, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (n592Htlj003785 Message accepted for delivery)

So what may be wrong?

Can you explain a little more about what exactly you are trying to do? I'm a little slow on the uptake. Using SMART_HOST will send 'all' mail from your server to the one defined as SMART_HOST. It sounds to me that you want particular emails to go to a particular address. It could also be that I haven't had enough coffee yet ;-)
