Howdy -

Does anyone know where I could find a detailed checklist for configuring search on Office SharePoint 2007?

I've installed sharepoint on a server (windows 2003 enterprise) and, for the most part, it appears I managed to get sharepoint installed correctly.

SQL server 2005 enterprise was installed with mixed mode authentication first, and then sharepoint automatically created its necessary databases during setup/configuration.

all of these steps were done logged in as the server administrator.

I banged out a bunch of steps in Central Administration including configuring andstarting the search service.

if I try to use the search box to search anything the site returns an unknown error. this doesn't give me a whole lot ot work with.

so a checklist would be helpful. any links or tips appreciated.

Thanks,
-r

Has the Search Service logged anything in the application log?

Phil -

I got past the unknown error. Looks like i forgot to set up SSP. With that done, the unknown error has gone away. However, now i just get no results in my searches.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with how the SSP is set up. Do i need to have crawls set up there for searches to yield results on the site?

I already have search services in Central Administration \ Operations configured to index every minute.....

thx,
Rob
