Hi everyone,
This part of ISA is anyoying me atm. I need some advice. Here's what I want to do. I want to have Dial-on-Demand vir ISA . I have a connectiod, on the properties - Dial-up Entry - Network dial-up account - what user account do I use in here? (there are three users on my network. I want to be able to give access to the internet).

you put in the username of your account at your ISP. Even if the dial up connection has the username and password saved in it. ISA still needs the username and password for the dial up connection

Thanks Sith! Is there anywhere in the settings to make ISA using 'Dial on Demand' use a certain dialer at a certain time of the day? . Ive looked at Schedule has that anything to do with it?.

When my network was still using the dial up modem, I first created access policies to only allow internet traffic within certain time. But even outside of this time the modem still dialed even though the user was not allowed to access the site. This is a very annoying characteristic of ISA. But I eventually worked out a solution. Delete you existing Dial up connections. I enabled Routing and Remote Access Server (RRAS) on the ISA server as a Router only. Then set it up to allow demand dial connections. I created a demand dial connection to the Internet provider. (Im cant remember if this demand dial connection automatically created Dial up networking connection, and therefore required to be set up in ISA or if the connection only appears in RRAS.) But either way the computer automatically dials the connection for external access. The advantage of doing it this way is that the Demand Dial connection inside Dial Out Hours. So that connection can only be dialed out during certain hours. You can also set it to only dial out on certain traffic.
If you need any help setting up RRAS just give us a yell

Thanks Sith, I will look into this !! :) wish me luck

(SBS 2K, and W2K Pro client)

I have my ISA and RRAS setup the way Sith mentions, but I am having problems forcing dialout with everything except HTTP.

For example, when I attempt to FTP using WS_FTP to a site it just doesn't dial out.

Any ideas? Ahdkaw
