configuration saving problem of cisco 2611 router 1

Hello Guys,

I bought new Cisco Router 2611 Just two Month back.Till I have been facing a Configuration saving problem.till date I had tried the following some permutation combination.
1)router#copy running-config to startup-config
2)router#wr

but when i reboot the router my all configuration data lost and router ask for a new configuration.

is there any another method to save the configuration in router.

It sounds like the config register is not set properly. do a "show ver" at the bottom it will show a config-register value. It should be 0x2102.

Hello mtashiro,

Yes,I checked the config-register value with help of show ver command.
config-register value show 0x2142.
Please tell me how to change it.

get into config mode and type the following:

config-register 0x2102
end
wr mem

Basically what 0x2142 does is to tell the router to not load the saved configuration. It's saved just not loading.
